Whales Tale Hampton Bays stands out as a vibrant new addition to the dining scene on Foster Avenue, just before the Ponquogue Bridge. This restaurant effortlessly blends a relaxed, dockside atmosphere with a menu that excels in approachable, flavorful American fare. Its location in Hampton Bays makes it a welcoming spot for locals and visitors seeking a casual yet memorable outpost to gather with friends or family.

The heart of Whales Tale’s appeal lies in its diverse menu, particularly the standout flatbreads and tacos. Their buffalo chicken and Cali chicken flatbreads bring bold flavors that complement the laid-back vibe, while the Mexican-inspired tacos—crafted with fresh, satisfying ingredients—are a must-try for those craving a twist on classic bar fare. Beyond these, the bang bang shrimp appetizer and street bowl with customizable protein options have earned enthusiastic praise for their balanced taste and generous portions.

The restaurant’s spatial design enhances the experience with a spacious indoor area and an inviting outdoor “beer garden.” Here, guests can unwind in Adirondack chairs, play cornhole, and enjoy craft cocktails or local brews. This setup caters especially well to a crowd looking for a social yet comfortable environment to relax after a long day or celebrate casual occasions.

Service at Whales Tale is another highlight. Multiple guests have noted the staff’s attentive, friendly approach, with standout servers who make every visit feel personal and welcomed. Whether stopping by for a late-night bite or a lively evening with drinks and snacks, guests find a spot that is both inviting and unpretentious.

All told, Whales Tale Hampton Bays delivers a combination of delicious American-style dishes, a lively yet chilled atmosphere, and top-tier service. Hampton Bays has been waiting for a new spot and this is it! Vibe is super chill, awesome energy, great food that doesn’t break the bank, and amazing cocktails. Happy hour during the week and taco Tuesday scores extra bonus points! Indoor & outdoor seating, big spacious bar, and the team is super friendly. They even have a “beer garden” where you can relax in an Adirondack chair or picnic table, play some cornhole, and enjoy a snack or cocktail. My personal favs: bang bang shrimp, the street bowl (I added chicken), Caesar taco salad, Tostada Salad, and of course… tacos! They make a mean margarita and the rum punch is soooo good! Plus- it’s on foster ave right before the Ponquogue bridge. Welcome to HB!

We had an amazing experience. Our server, Steven, was absolutely fantastic attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp, Bang Bang Tacos, and Grilled Chicken Tacos, and everything was delicious. The flavors were fresh and satisfying, and we truly enjoyed every bite. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that we highly recommend!

Came in very late for food but was greeted with a smile and great attitude. Bang bang shrimp appetizer was phenomenal. I got the steak tacos and the meat was perfectly cooked and tasty. Everyone else in the group enjoyed in their entrees as well. Service is top notch here. Was also pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive the total came too. This is a must go!

A very chill, dockside restaurant. The staff was really good. The tacos were some of the best I have had, non Mexican. They are American styled. The drinks were strong. I wish the restaurant had better water views, the parking lot is there in front of it. That's my only complaint. Very relaxed atmosphere. Go see them. Tell em Barsnobs sent ya

This place? Oh, it's a total gem! The vibe is absolutely fantastic, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays when they roll out some seriously good specials. And the food? Delicious doesn't even begin to cover it. Plus, the staff are so incredibly friendly, they'll make you feel right at home. Word to the wise: Mother Nature can be a bit of a trickster, so even if it's sunny when you head out, I'd suggest stashing a sweater or light jacket in your bag. A rogue chill can pop up out of nowhere! But hey, if you do get caught off guard, you can always duck inside where it's cozy. Now, let's talk food. Those mussels with the white sauce? Prepare to have your mind blown. Seriously, they're divine. And the fries? They're like little golden sticks of crispy, addictive magic – you won't be able to stop at just one (or twenty). The wings are solid too, and while I haven't personally dived into the tacos yet, they certainly look promising from afar. I can vouch for the burger though – it's the real deal, no doubt about it. In short, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. Major props to the waitstaff for their awesome service and to the cooks for whipping up such mouthwatering grub!

Went on a super-busy Tuesday night. Got a great seat at the bar. My wife said , Steven, the bartender made the best Spicy Margarita she’s ever had. Even though Steven was by himself, he handled every customer at the bar with a smile and also had to make all the cocktails for seated customers. The Taco’s were delicious too! Definitely recommend.

Had been to this spot in the past a few times when it was a few different names. Those weren’t the best visits and wasn’t expecting much. With an open mind and appetite we had dinner with friends and the kids. Wow! Service was great even with most of the tables full. Menu is awesome and the food even better. Tacos were a good size and delicious. Korean steak was off the charts, spare rib had a nice spice kick and cooked perfectly. Whole vibe of the place was amazing. Wish we had spent some more summer nights on the deck there.

My friend just hosted a party here in the Beer Garden section. Everyone had a great time. The area is lovely, the food delicious (chicken, steak & shrimp tacos with all the trimmings, chips and dips, fabulous chicken egg rolls), and yummy white and red sangria. The personal server we had, Steve, was above and beyond attentive and helpful. This place is a welcome addition to Hampton Bays. I urge everyone to at least try it on Taco Tuesday.
